All creatures eat and a natural response to eating is to create waste. Roaches are no different. The droppings of a small roach are roughly the same size as ground coffee or black pepper. That makes them a little hard to spot.
Larger roaches will leave cylindrical droppings as big as 5mm.
The real clue is not in the waste but in the amount of waste that is left. It is this that will catch your attention and alert you to the fact you have a large infestation of roaches.

Once you have a fairly large number of roaches you’ll be able to smell them. They emit a musty aroma which is much like a wet towel. You may also notice an oily smell.
Once you detect this you’ll know that you already have a large infestation. It will definitely be time to get some exert assistance.
More specifically you’ll find egg casings on the floor. These casings can contain between 10 and 20 roach eggs. In fact the German cockroach has a casing capable of holding 50 eggs. Getting rid of these will reduce the additions to their population.
You’ll find these casings in hidden, dark places. This includes book shelves and behind furniture.
When you have a roach infestation it is inevitable that some of them will die. There are many reasons why this could happen.
If you look under your sinks, behind the refrigerator and in other dark spots you may find a dead cockroach or two. This is a sure sign you have an issue that needs dealing with.
You Can See Them
There will be tiles when you can see roaches. I general they come out at night and you may hear them scuttling round. You can sit up and wait for them but you’ll need to keep still and use a red light to get an accurate idea of how many there are and where they are coming from.
You may even see some in the day time but this is only when the nest has become so full that some are forced out.
Realizing you have an issue with roaches is not usually a problem; the real issue is dealing with them quickly and effectively. That’s when you need the professionals.
