Tigo Energy was founded in 2007 in Los Gatos, California by a group of Silicon Valley technologists. The team recognized the theoretical problem created by the simple interconnection of PV modules and set out to apply their expertise in process control, silicon component design, system architecture, software and communications to develop a solution. To guide much of the early R&D, the team researched the practical implications of the problems, viewing module-level data from systems with many different technologies in several geographies. They determined that while the opportunity to improve system output was tangible, a unique technical break-though was required to maximize performance.

The patented Tigo Energy Maximizer Solution brings up to 20% more energy output by maximizing power output of individual modules; active system management with panel level visibility and advanced performance analytics; and enhanced safety with arc prevention and system deactivation. The key technology break-though ensures these benefits are achieved with maximum reliability and conversion efficiency while minimizing incremental costs.
