The Harlan family had for years been looking for a way to both reduce their energy bills and their environmental footprint. While their current electric usage was modest, averaging around 1300 kwh monthly for their 4 person home, they knew that renewable energy would make a significant dent in that bill and would be made even more affordable by new federal tax credits and grant programs available in their home state of Maryland.
