Keeping Mosquitos Away From Your Event

Nobody wants to invite mosquitoes to a party. They are the worst guests in the world, and they’re sure to turn it into a catastrophe. Unfortunately, they have a tendency to show up whether you want them to or not. The only way to prevent that from happening is to set up mosquito repellent in advance. No method is perfect, so it’s also best to plan ahead and take a few steps to cut down on the population as early as possible.

Why Does It Matter?

Mosquitoes cause a lot of problems. Almost everyone has first-hand knowledge of how unpleasant their bites can be, and that discomfort alone is enough to ruin a party. Fewer people realize the true extent of the damage that a few mosquito bites can do.

Mosquitoes kill more humans than any other species in the world, including other humans. They may not look like much, but they can carry many of the world’s most dangerous diseases. It’s true that most of the damage is done in the developing world, but even first world countries like America suffer more deaths from mosquitoes than from most other species. It’s one thing to have a party ruined by getting itchy mosquito bites, but it’s another to become famous for the being the person whose party got everybody sick. It’s not the most likely outcome, but it’s never a good idea to take the risk.

Plan Ahead

In the long run, the best way to stop mosquitoes from showing up at your party is to keep the population down. It’s impossible to get rid of all of the mosquitoes, but keeping the population low can prevent the worst of the problems. The most important part of this process is preventing them from reproducing.

Mosquitoes breed in stagnant water. If you get rid of the water, you can get rid of most of the mosquitoes. Cover pools and other bodies of what when they aren’t in use. If the water needs to stay uncovered, such as in birdbaths, drain and refill the vessel every week or so. It won’t stop all of them, but it will make a big difference.

Start With A Spray

Keeping the population down is often enough, but not for the perfect party. To make sure that the mosquitoes stay away, call in the professionals for a special event spray. It’s a type of barrier spray that repels mosquitoes. It gets sprayed well in advance, so it won’t stick to any of the food or dishes at the party, but it lasts long enough to keep the bloodsuckers away for the entire event. Most guests won’t even notice that it’s there, and it will make sure that they don’t notice any mosquitoes, either.
